Tyler Schropp brings an extensive knowledge and background regarding the NRA to his role as executive director. He most recently served as executive vice president and management supervisor of the NRA account at the Mercury Group. Some of Schropp’s other clients during his 16-year tenure included the Air Force Memorial Foundation, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, Six Flags, Doctors for Medical Liability Reform, ArenaPAC and Williams Energy. Schropp has also managed and implemented a multi-million-dollar fundraising campaign to build the American Air Museum in Great Britain. Additionally, he has experience in celebrity management and has directed logistics for numerous prominent events. Schropp is a graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.

Wayne Sheets has been with the NRA for over 30 years. He has a lifelong and diversified background in hunting, shooting and gun collecting. While attending the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York in the early '70s, Wayne coached the rifle, skeet and trap teams. His love for the shooting sports led to his first position at the NRA. In his years as Director of the Education and Training Division, Wayne managed a wide range of NRA programs, including: hunter education, law enforcement and civilian firearms training, range development and operations, and the National Firearms Museum. Wayne’s mission is to enhance the philanthropic programs and opportunities available to supporters of the shooting sports. He has worked with many who recognize the mutual benefits to both the NRA and its members of major gifts and philanthropy. It is through these entities that Sheets believes, "We can financially secure the NRA’s operation and growth."
Ben Case has brought over 28 years of experience as an advancement and management professional and leader in the nonprofit sector. Ben resides in Great Falls, VA, with his lovely wife Angela, and together they have raised two children. As a shotgun shooter, Ben enjoys training on the trap and skeet fields, as well as shooting sporting clays. When he is not shooting one of his favorite side by sides, Ben enjoys music, gardening, photography, NASCAR, Duke University basketball, Carolina Hurricanes hockey, and Washington Redskins football. A native of Washington, D.C., he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 1976 from Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. His experience includes work with leading institutions, such as Duke University and the Metropolitan Opera, as well as being involved in the start-up of a number of nonprofits.
Mike Ballew joined the NRA Office of Advancement in 2008. A Northern California native, Mike moved to New Mexico in 1986 where he began his career with the NRA as the Executive Director of the NRA Whittington Center. Today, as the Director of Advancement – Whittington Center, Mike works to ensure that the NRA Whittington Center’s shooting programs receive the funding they need to continue and grow. An avid hunter and former big-game hunting guide and outfitter for more than 40 years, Mike has minors in Wildlife Management and Forestry from Humboldt State University and a degree in Recreation Administration from Sacramento State University.
Brooke joined the NRA team in 2004 with a communications and marketing background in the non-profit sector. In 2007, Brooke moved to the NRA Office of Advancement as the Assistant Director of Planned Giving - Marketing. The daughter of a career Air Force officer and Vietnam veteran, Brooke has called many regions of the United States home. She studied at the University of Mary Washington, where she received her degree in history, and later earned an MBA in marketing from the University of Phoenix. Today, Brooke resides in Northern Virginia where she enjoys shotgun shooting and firing old muzzle loaders with her father.
Nicole Capossela joined the Office of Advancement in May of 2003. She is an avid shotgun shooter and hunter who also enjoys golfing, cooking, and traveling. Nicole relocated from her home state of New York to the Capital City Area over ten years ago. She began her career with the NRA as an Advancement Officer before beginning her work with Corporate and Foundation Relations. She serves as Secretary of the NRA President's Special Committee on Development and holds a B.A. and M.A. from George Washington University in Washington, D.C
Frank Cerutti joined the NRA Office of Advancement in March of 2007. He enjoys hunting pheasant and chukar and working to protect and defend the US Constitution; namely, protecting the inalienable right of the American citizen to acquire, possess, transport, carry, transfer, ownership of, and enjoy the right to use arms. Frank resides in Vienna, VA with his wife, with whom he has raised four children. He joins us from Prison Fellowship Ministries where he served as the Head of Strategic Gifts & Planned Giving Departments for nearly eight years. He is a graduate of the University of Delaware’s ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking. Frank’s deeply rooted American values have inspired him to protect the rights guaranteed under the Second Amendment.
Tim Fisher came to the NRA in September of 2002. He enjoys shooting sporting clays, trap, and skeet. Growing up in Pennsylvania gave him the opportunity to become an avid deer hunter and wing shooter. Tim resides in Shenandoah Valley, VA, nine miles west of Front Royal with his lovely wife Diane. Tim and his wife Diane have two grown children, Seth and Melissa. After earning a Master’s degree in History and Political Science from Ball State University, Tim taught high school U.S. History for seven years before he brought over twenty years of investment, estate planning, and seminar experience to the NRA Planned Giving Department. He believes that the Second Amendment is the Amendment that protects all other Freedoms, and that “nobody defends the Second Amendment and therefore Freedom, like the NRA."
Heide Kaser started with the NRA in December of 1999. Her first experience with a firearm was 25 years ago while serving in the United States Naval Reserve in St. Louis, Missouri, where she was given the opportunity to shoot with the USNR Pistol Team. Heide continued her training while serving as a Special Agent for both the Defense Criminal Investigative Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In addition to having worked as a Staff Instructor in the Law Enforcement Division until Nov of 2007, she teaches concealed carry classes monthly at the NRA HQ Range. Heide resides in Oak Hill, VA, but also owns a wooded property in the Shenandoahs where she has built a range and a small cabin. Heide completed her Masters in Justice from American University, and her B.A. in Sociology from Principia College. She is most passionate about protecting our right to own and carry firearms, and dedicated to the training of safe and accurate use of firearms for self-defense and sport.
NRA member J. Pierce Shields joins NRA Office of Advancement as the Assistant Director of Planned Giving for the Northeast. The New Jersey native graduated from Rowan University with a degree in Law/Justice, and received a law degree from Widener University School of Law, in Wilmington Delaware. Pierce then earned an LL.M. in Taxation from the Villanova University School of Law. As a former estate and trust attorney with a large law firm in New Jersey, and former bank trust officer specializing in estate planning, Pierce is uniquely qualified for his new role with the NRA. An avid hunter, Pierce has taken big-game in Alaska, Canada, and Africa, and currently resides in southern New Jersey.
Kent joined the NRA Office of Advancement in the Planned Giving Department in 2008. Born and raised in south Texas, Kent began hunting as a youth and became an NRA member at the age of 12. Later in life, as a graduate of Texas A&M Kingsville, he went on to earn his law degree from the University of Houston. Since graduating law school, Kent has been a bank trust officer, estate planning consultant, and founding partner in a Texas law firm. In 2006, Kent and his wife relocated to Angel Fire, New Mexico, where he became a fundraiser for the NRA Whittington Center. An avid shooter, Kent competes yearly as a member of the National Sporting Clays Association, and hunts big game in Texas and ducks in Louisiana annually.
Ashley Weaver joined the NRA Office of Advancement’s Planned Giving department in 2006. Although she was born and raised in Sharon, Pennsylvania, she, her husband Kyle, and their four dogs now call Northern Virginia home. After receiving her BA in Political Science from Grove City College, she went on to earn her law degree from Duquesne University School of Law. While studying the Constitution, Ashley came to realize the importance of the NRA’s objectives and following her work at a boutique bankruptcy firm in Charlotte, North Carolina she joined the NRA team. Ashley enjoys upland bird hunting with her dogs “Sky” and “Gauge,” as well as sporting clays and turkey hunting. |
