Billy Birdzell joined the NRA Office of Advancement in 2013 as the Assistant Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations. A native of Larchmont, New York, he attended Emory University, in Atlanta, Georgia, where he earned a Bachelors degree in Economics.
Upon completing his studies at Emory, Birdzell was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps and served as an infantry officer with the 1st Battalion, 4th Marines for two tours in Iraq. Birdzell then became a founding member of Marine Corps Special Operations (MARSOC) where he served as a team leader. He then deployed to Africa where they trained indigenous forces.
Birdzell was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain, and then earned an MBA from the University of Virginia and is currently a candidate for a Masters degree in Security Studies from Georgetown University.
He is an avid hunter, outdoorsman, mountaineer, and competitive shooter.
